How to Sow
Sow Indoors (January - June):
Sow seeds in trays or pots on the surface of moist compost. Sprinkle a small amount of compost over the seeds to cover. Keep at a warm temperature (64.4-69.8°F). Keep moist but do not overwater. Relocate to a warm windowsill out of direct sunlight once seedlings appear.
Sow Outdoors (April - June):
Alternatively, sow directly into the garden once the chance of frost has passed. Sow evenly into warm, moist soil and cover with a thin layer of soil. Thin out plants when they are large enough to handle.
Transplanting:
Move plants outdoors from May to June when the ground is warmer. Be sure to "harden off" (acclimatize) plants by leaving them outdoors during the day and bringing them in at night for one week before planting permanently.
Care & Blooming
Bloom Time:
Flowers should begin to appear from late May and bloom until October, providing vibrant color all summer long.
Watering:
Water well during hot summer months, especially if growing in hanging baskets or patio containers.
Pro Tip:
Remove fading flowers regularly! This encourages the plants to produce more blooms throughout the summer.
